Juliet’s research focuses on quantitative approaches to studying the interface between human and animal health, transmission of mosquito-borne infections, and the dynamics of cross-species transmission. Her current projects include work on Ebola, rabies, Nipah, Japanese encephalitis, and Dengue viruses. In all of these systems, she aims to integrate principles from epidemiology and ecology to identify interventions appropriate to meet the needs of local populations affected by disease.
As Program Director for the International Clinics on Infectious Disease Dynamics (ICI3D) Program, Juliet also teaches annual courses on data-driven modeling and infectious disease dynamics at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences in South Africa and at UF’s Emerging Pathogens Institute.
